What is Contexto Unlimited?
Unlimited mode gives you random Contexto puzzles with no waiting. Finish one, start another. There is no daily reset and no one-puzzle-per-day restriction.
Your unlimited stats are tracked separately from daily mode. Games played, average guesses, best game - all independent. If you want to practice without worrying about your streak, or if you just want more puzzles, this is the mode for that.
Where the puzzles come from
Unlimited draws from a fixed pool of more than a hundred prepared puzzles. Each one is a secret word with every other word in the vocabulary already ranked against it, which is why a guess comes back instantly — there is no model running while you play, just a lookup.
Pressing New Puzzle picks another at random and skips the one you just finished, so you never get the same word twice in a row. Beyond that the choice is not tracked between sessions: a word you saw last week can come round again, which is useful for practice and worth knowing before you treat a fast solve as a personal best.
Unlimited and Daily side by side
The two modes run the same ranking and the same hints. What differs is how often you can play and what gets recorded.
Daily
One word a day, the same for everyone, resetting at midnight UTC. Solving on consecutive days builds a streak; missing a day ends it. The answer is checked on the server and never reaches your browser until you find it.
Unlimited
A new word whenever you want one, with no reset and no cap. No streak — there are no days to be consecutive about. The ranking table is sent to your browser, which is what makes it instant and also means the answer is technically there if you go looking for it.
What unlimited is good for
The daily puzzle gives you one attempt at one word. Unlimited is where the habits that shorten a round get built.

Test an opening set
Pick four broad category words — food, animal, place, tool — and open with the same four every round for a while. You will learn quickly which ones actually split the space and which ones come back in the 400s no matter what the answer is.

Practise the green zone
Getting under rank 100 is the easy half; converting that into rank 1 is where rounds get long. Unlimited lets you reach the green zone repeatedly and work on the part that matters — synonyms, plurals, parts of a thing, tools used with it.

Learn what the model thinks is close
Ranking follows how words appear in real text, not dictionary categories, and that takes a few rounds to internalise. Guessing freely is the fastest way to build a feel for it before it costs you a daily streak.
What gets recorded
Unlimited keeps its own row: games played, average guesses, your best round, and total hints used. It never touches your daily figures or your streak, so you can play twenty practice rounds badly and your daily record is untouched. Everything is stored in your browser, not on an account, which also means it is per device.
Leaving mid-round
An unfinished round is saved as you go, so closing the tab and coming back later puts the same word and the same list of guesses in front of you. The daily board is saved separately, so switching between the two does not cost you either one.
Unlimited mode FAQ
How is unlimited different from daily?
Daily mode gives everyone the same puzzle each day and tracks your solving streak. Unlimited gives you a random puzzle from a pool of hundreds, and you can play as many as you want. Stats are separate.
Do unlimited games affect my streak?
No. Streaks only track daily puzzles. Unlimited has its own stats: games played, average guesses, and best game.
Are unlimited puzzles easier or harder?
They come from the same word pool and use the same ranking system. Difficulty varies by puzzle, not by mode.
Can I switch between daily and unlimited?
Yes. Use the navigation at the top of the page. Your progress in each mode is saved independently.
Can I get the same unlimited puzzle twice?
Not twice in a row — New Puzzle skips the word you just played. Over a longer stretch, yes: the pool is fixed and previous picks are not remembered between sessions, so a word can come round again.
Do hints work differently in unlimited mode?
No. A hint reveals a word ranked between 100 and 200 that you have not already guessed, exactly as in daily mode, and it is counted in your unlimited hint total. The difference is that the hint is worked out in your browser rather than fetched from the server.
