Deluxe Waffle - 7×7 Daily Word Swap Puzzle
What is Deluxe Waffle?
Deluxe Waffle is the bigger version. Instead of a 5×5 grid with six words, you get a 7×7 grid with eight words - four horizontal and four vertical. More letters, more intersections, more swaps to manage.
Like the standard daily puzzle, Deluxe resets at midnight UTC and everyone gets the same grid. Your stats and streaks are tracked separately from the 5×5 daily mode.
The 7×7 grid
The 7×7 waffle grid has the same hole pattern as the 5×5, just scaled up. More words cross each other, which means more intersection tiles. Each intersection is shared by two words, so getting one right gives you progress on both.
You get more swaps to match the larger grid. The minimum solve requires more moves, and a perfect score still earns 5 stars. The buffer between a perfect solve and running out of swaps is proportionally similar to the standard grid.
Deluxe strategy
The 7×7 grid has more intersection tiles than the 5×5. That's actually helpful - each intersection gives you information about two words at once. Start with the inner intersections (not the corners) because they connect with more letters in both directions.
With a bigger grid, there are more gray tiles at the start. Don't panic. Focus on the words that already have the most green tiles and work outward. A word with three greens and four unknowns is still manageable if you think about what letters could complete it.
Star scoring in Deluxe
Stars work the same way as standard mode. The minimum swap count is higher because the grid is larger, but the formula is the same: each unused swap (above the minimum) earns you a star, up to 5.

How many swaps do you get in Deluxe?
More than standard mode, scaled to the larger grid. The exact count is balanced so the gap between a perfect solve and running out of moves feels similar to the 5×5.
Is Deluxe harder than standard Waffle?
Yes. More words crossing means more constraints to juggle at once. But the extra intersections also give you more information - each intersection tells you about two words simultaneously.
Can I play Deluxe more than once a day?
No. Deluxe is a daily puzzle like the standard mode - one per day, same grid for everyone. For unlimited play, use the Unlimited mode (which runs on the 5×5 grid).
